What does TAK Studio's AV & Technology division do?
We design and document integrated technology systems for buildings: audiovisual, security, lighting control, and the coordination that ties them together. We are the technology side of TAK Studio, an integrated practice of architects and engineers working since 2019. We design the systems, coordinate them with the architecture, and produce the drawings a contractor installs from.
Which systems do you design?
Audiovisual (distributed audio, video and displays, conferencing and media rooms), security (access control, CCTV surveillance and intrusion detection), and lighting control (scene control, dimming, daylight and occupancy). Integrated technology design brings all three into one coordinated documentation set.
What is integrated technology design?
Integrated technology design is the practice of designing a building's audiovisual, security and lighting-control systems together as one coordinated set, rather than as separate packages. The systems are checked against the building model so containment, backboxes and ceilings agree before installation. You get one documentation set, one team and a single point of contact from concept to commissioning.
What is low-voltage systems design?
Low-voltage systems design covers a building's technology and signal systems (audiovisual, security, structured cabling and control), as distinct from line-voltage electrical power. We design these systems, coordinate them with the architecture and document them drawing-ready: schematics, device layouts, cable schedules and a bill of materials a contractor can install from.
What's the difference between a technology design studio and an AV installer or integrator?
A technology design studio designs and documents the systems (what goes where, how it connects and how it is specified), typically independent of any single product line. An installer or integrator then supplies and fits the equipment. TAK designs and documents your AV, security and lighting systems, coordinates them with the architecture, and stays through installation and commissioning so what gets built matches what was drawn. That independence keeps the design in your interest, not a vendor's catalog.
Do you work alongside our architect, consultant and contractor?
Yes. Most of our work is exactly that. We design against the architect's model and drawings, coordinate with the consultants and building services, and hand the contractor documentation they can price and install. Because TAK also does architecture and interior design in-house, we are used to sitting on either side of that table.
What do you actually deliver?
Drawing-ready documentation: system schematics and single-line drawings, equipment layouts and rack elevations, cable schedules and containment, control and points schedules, and a bill of materials. In short, a package a contractor can build from and an owner can maintain, not a sales proposal.
What size and type of projects do you take?
Medium-to-large commercial work (offices, hospitality, cultural, retail and high-end residential) for developers, building owners, architects, consultants and contractors. If a project needs technology designed and coordinated properly, it is the kind of work we are built for.
How does an engagement work?
Four stages: brief and concept, system design, coordination and documentation, then commissioning and handover. You have one studio and a single point of contact across all of it, from the first sketch to the moment it is switched on.
Do you also do the architecture and interior design?
Yes. TAK Studio is one practice with two disciplines (Architecture & Design and AV & Technology) delivered by one coordinated team. You can take the technology on its own, or the building and the technology together, coordinated end to end.
Do you work with clients in the United States and Europe?
Yes. TAK Studio works with clients in the United States, Europe and worldwide. System design, coordination and documentation are drawing-based deliverables, so we design and document your AV, security and lighting systems wherever the project is, working alongside your local architect, consultant and installer.
